T500 vs The Air Still: Which is best for you?
We are often asked "what are the main benefits of each of the two stills" we sell.
Fermentation time will be the same for both although the Reflux will allow you a greater choice of alcohol strength in your wash (see below).

Will I go blind drinking my whoopy water? |

A big fear for many new distillers is that they are risking poisoning themselves with methanol - a toxin that can cause blindness. There is little basis for this fear however; if formed, it is only in small amounts, and can be easily discarded with the "heads" collected first (see here) during distillation.

Pump Up Your Extract Brewing Skills
Brew You Own Magazine
Author Sam Wammack
Issue October 1996

There's one thing for sure about malt extract - it's great stuff! History doesn't record the name of the 19th century brewmaster who first had the idea of concentrating and storing unfermented beer wort so the beer could be brewed at a later time, but he had a good idea. By changing malted barley into malt extract, a brewery could avoid problems with insects and mold and still store grain long past the harvest season. Also, concentrated malt extract was easier to ship to breweries located far from barley-growing areas.

At the home brew shop we hear those statements quite a lot. We will run through the steps involved, hopefuly this will keep the Misses or the Hubby off your back about all those bottles laying around,
